As the holidays are over, many people are back to their regular routines of work or school. The weather has also been cooler since the month of February is approaching. With the cold weather and shorten sunlight many may be battling the winter blues. A great way to jump start the new year feeling refresh with energy is by exercising. Start by going to the gym three to four times a week and work your way up. I know some may say "how do I find the motivation to head to the gym in this cold weather?" Well first off, exercising helps to increase your endorphins which produces happy hormones. Your body feels more energized and your mind can be more alert for a full work or school day. Who wouldn't want to start their day feeling happy and rejuvenated?

With the gloomy and cold weather amongst us, grab yourself a hot drink and why not choose a nice tea set. I recently was gifted a Wellness Tea Box by a friend of mine. When I received it, I was so eager to try it out as I have slowly grown to be a tea drinker. I prefer tea over coffee, but if you were to ask me which one I preferred a few years back I would have automatically said coffee. Although you may prefer lounging in the weekend with your pyjama watching shows on Netflix, but once in a while put on your nice clothes and go out for a spin. There are many winter activities such as skating, skiing or snow tubing, but if you prefer something more subtle than go for a stroll around downtown and check out their local boutiques. There are many places you can explore and discover- even in your local town! If you are indecisive of what to do for a date night or simply a hangout with friends, Yelp is a great way to search for restaurants to try or places to check out. Whenever I run out of ideas, I always end up opening the app and searching different restaurants, bars, or entertainments around the neighbourhood. The best part is choosing the price range from affordable to fancy. So, go out and discover new adventures because there is so much we can appreciate or find inspiration from in our city!

Once in a while who says you can't treat yourself with a nice purchase or meal. Although the holidays did end and many people are trying to save especially after spending on Holiday gifts or vacation plans, you can still treat yourself with a nice facial, spa or manicure. For parents out there, find a nanny or baby sitter to take care of your kids, so you have an afternoon to relax or do something you enjoy.

Last but not least, don't forget to take your vitamins before you leave your house in the morning! Inadequate vitamin intake can really risk your health. According to many fitness and health sites a deficiency in B vitamins can lead to damages to your nerve and anemia. Too little vitamin C, your body will not produce enough collagen, the primary tissue in the body. It is connected with your immune system to fight off infections. On the other hand, Vitamin D promotes healthy bones that work alongside the mineral calcium. Our bodies can only do so much, so we need to fill our body with nutrients to function properly. According to Health Guidance, "The body needs a minimum amount of vitamins and minerals each day to remain healthy and function properly." It is certainly time to invest in our health. Whether we admit it or not, we need vitamins.
